There are three separate areas within the hospital where ultrasound examinations are performed; the main x-ray department, the Antenatal Department and the Gynaecology Department.

The department in which you have your scan is dependent on the type of scan you are having. You will be informed of which department to attend in your appointment letter. There are varying types of preparation that may be required of you prior to your scan; information about this will be provided with your appointment letter.
Polite request - While we appreciate that pregnancy is an exciting time for you and your family, we would like to remind you that antenatal scans are important clinical investigations and require the Ultrasonographer’s full concentration. Because of this we ask that only one adult at a time accompanies you into the scan room. Please note; at this time, children are not permitted to attend scan appointments.
Appointments
If you have been referred by your doctor or a specialist for an examination, they will, in most cases send us your imaging request form directly. In this instance we will endeavour to contact you as soon as possible to arrange a suitable appointment time.
