We provide clinical advice and services to patients with diabetes.
The medical team offers full Consultant assessment and periodic review for outpatients as well as review and management advice during inpatient episodes.
The Specialist Nursing Service has two key elements: the management of in-patients and support for patients attending Consultant-led diabetes clinics.
For patients managed by the community Diabetes Specialist Nurses, referrals are now dealt with via East Coast Community Healthcare (ECCH). They can be contacted via East Coast Community Access (ECCA) on 01493 809977.
For in-patients, referrals can be made by any of the staff looking after these individuals, though there should be good clinical reasons underpinning the referral.
The team has an established insulin pump service, with designated numbers of pump users.
